The Crazy Texas Drummer moment
Brian FosterAustin, TX
For years the clips went up and did what clips do. Then a run of them in May 2025 did not.
Which kind of crazy
People kept asking which kind of crazy. The good kind - it is a nine-minute double-bass set on a traffic median, played by a man who has been doing this for forty years.
“Maybe we are the crazy ones”
The most asked question about him
Where can I see him play?
He does not publish an exact corner and a time in advance, because a busker who announces a schedule gets moved along.
Instagram is where he posts, and most days he is out. Follow it and you will know where he set up before anybody else does.
Motorheadhunters
Is he in a band you can go see? Yes - Motorheadhunters, Brian Foster and Scott Doyle, with local players sitting in. Their shows are posted on their Instagram.

What actually happened
A short run of street clips posted in May 2025 travelled much further than the rest of the catalogue. They were all the same thing: a man on a corner in Austin, a full kit, no stage, no announcement.
People in the comments kept reaching for the same phrase to describe him, and the name stuck hard enough to become the title on the videos and then the name at the top of this site.
The two that carried it, with the view counts as they stood on 11 September 2026:
- Street drumming in Austin, May 23, 2025 - posted May 23, 2025 - 67,900 views
- Crazy Texas drummer - posted May 5, 2025 - 47,495 views
View counts move. Those numbers are a measurement taken on 11 September 2026, not a claim about today.
“The ultimate freedom. That's what sums up why I busk; I've never felt so free.”
